Seva Centre is now a Non-Profit Co-operative and is in a New Location

Press Release: Seva Centre in new location
For immediate release
Submitted by: Anisah Madden

The Seva Centre is excited to present it's Fall 2009 schedule of classes in our new location -
The Boundary Women's Resource Centre on Market Avenue. Over the summer the Seva Centre formed a non-profit Co-operative to provide an umbrella for it's activities. In addition to a variety of classes in yoga, expressive arts, meditation, and movement ritual, we will be offering yoga and creative movement classes by donation on "Seva Saturdays" through October and November.

Seva Saturdays are one-hour morning classes offered by the different co-op members on a rotating basis. The classes on the Seva Saturdays will be by donation only and will give people an opportunity to try different classes and instructors, and those with low incomes a chance to access the innovative services being offered through the Centre.

But for the women who make up the co-operative, Anisah Madden, Elisabeth Guentert Bay, Mona Mattei, and Michele Dean, the focus of the Centre is so much more than just the opportunity to share their innovative practices with the community.
Our vision is to be able to provide the community with the resources for personal well-being through our classes but also as individual practitioners. The group has a variety of skills to offer and the different therapies that they are able to provide are unique to the area.

The members of the co-operative offer individual healing therapies such as energy healing, herbal medicine, private yoga sessions, bodywork and more. The group is committed to offering quality classes and services that create vitality and inspiration for a joyful life.

“As a non-profit group we are also dedicated in giving back to the community through creating projects that will bring people together and contribute to a thriving healing arts community. The Centre also hopes to continue their tradition of offering regular events as they had in their previous location and they invite ideas for these projects and presentations.

check out our blog: www.sevacentre.blogspot.com or contact us by phone 250.442.2114 or email sevacentre@gmail.com for more information on any of the healing therapies being offered or to find out more about the classes offered. Registration will take place Saturday Sept. 12th from 2-5pm and Tuesday September 15th from 5-7pm at the Women’s Centre.

Dear All

Here is an update on Seva Centre for the summer season.
Our team will be taking the summer off, and will be continuing our
classes and activities this fall in a NEW location - to be announced!

We have all enjoyed sharing movement and healing arts classes with you
in the beautiful hall. With the phenomenal community response
to the Seva Centre concept, our group has decided that we would like
to offer a wider variety of services, including personal healing sessions and herbal consultations, as well as larger gatherings, workshops and events,
and will be seeking a new space downtownwith this in mind.
If by fall this has not been decided, the Seva Centre will be temporarily
operating out of The Granby Dance Studio.

We would like to thank each of you for your participation and support
in our inception stage
stay tuned to our plans over summer via this blog!

Blessings

The Seva Centre Team

Evening Presentation PowerPoint Slide Show
I invite you to join me for an Evening Presentation PowerPoint slide show. The presentation offers a rich synthesis of knowledge and insights that is, above all, inspirational. No prior experience of Astrology or technical background knowledge required. Simply come to be entertained, amazed and awakened!

Below is a list of 10 good reasons to attend the Evening Presentation. Over the course of the evening I will cover the following:

1)Offer a summary of the current situation of social and spiritual evolutionary change that humanity is now facing.

2)Journey through a macrocosmic and microcosmic perspective on reality designed to illustrate the intrinsic wholeness, intelligence and spiri tual nature of every aspect of life in the universe and here on earth.

3)Outline a cross cultural overview of various models of Astrology with particular emphasis on Western, Chinese, Indian and Mayan systems of Astrology as well as direct links to other seemingly unrelated related modalities such as numerology, palmistry, iridology, Rayid, tarot, the playing cards and more...

4)Explain and illustrate the reality of the holistic paradigm upon which Astrology rests the many natural, 'fractal' expressions throughout the natural world.

5)Show some of the basic aspects that Astrologers use to interpret planetary alignments with special emphasis on the relationship between the monthly lunar cycle, the annual seasonal round and the basic geometry geography of our planet.

6)Illustrate the beauty, power and importance of Mandalas with emphasis upon the 4, 8, and 12 division Mandala that Astrology recognizes and uses to illustrate cycles of change.

7)Awaken you to the Natural Psychology that Astrology represents.

8)Offer updates and insights on cosmic and planetary cycles, aspects and alignments with special emphasis on Western and Mayan Astrology set to occur over the coming years, leading up to 12/21/2012 and explain why this date is so important and more importantly why the years leading up to this date are so important.

9)Offer strategies and intentions for you to consider with the intention of assisting you to prepare for, adapt to and flow with the coming changes.

7pm to 9pm

(through glass door on left of

New West Trading Co and upstairs)

"Healing Arts Therapy" is a spiritual path towards healing ourselves. With the Expressive Arts we are working in the here and now, becoming engaged on all levels of the person (physical, emotional, mental, spiritual). Active Imagination, Drawing and Creative Writing help us to build bridges between our conscious and unconscious Self. Expressing the unknown through dance and movement, we speak in our primary, archetypal language and go beyond culture, religion and social boundaries.

Elisabeth Guentert Bay, Expressive Arts Therapist BCATR, has an MA in Psychology and Healing Arts. She holds the Halprin Life/Art Practitioner and Teacher for Movement Ritual. Over the last 20 years she has worked in her private practice as well as in institutional settings.
